Checklist

Consumers should use a checklist similar to the

help select a qualified roofing contractor:
1. Is the contractor licensed?
2. Does the contractor have liability and
workers' compensation insurance?
3. Does the contractor have a reputation for
quality, and will he provide a list of references?
4. Is the contractor willing to provide a
"good workmanship" warranty?
5. Does the contractor provide the homeowner
with a copy of the warranty, and
has he thoroughly explained it?
6. Does the contractor thoroughly inspect the
roof, and share his findings?
7. Does the contractor hire subcontractors?
8. Does the contractor have a pager or
cellular number in case of emergency, and will he be available on weekends?
9. Is the contractor going to supervise
different phases of the project and provide a final inspection?
10. Does the contractor provide a written estimate
including specifics on the work to be done, warranty information, complete
clean-up details, and the cost?
